System description (HERO & HERO +):

'Hero' is our premium water seasoning system that incorporates 2 x different BRITA professional filters plumbed in series.

They work together to a) attract Carbonate Ions from the incoming water & b) attract TH Ions reducing total hardness. 

BRITAs' Quell cartridge (1st inline) exchanges incoming carbonate hardness with Hydrogen Ions, The release of Hydrogen Ions reduce the water PH readings off from highs of approx 8.3@25 deg C - HK water to lower levels close to basic.  

BRITAs' Finest cartridge receives the seasoned water out from Quell.  It strips back further CATIONS (e.g Ca & Mg) through Ion exchange releasing NaCl.  Total Hardness is reduced.  This type of water chemistry helps minimize scale whilst at the same time aid coffee extraction for delicious results.     

The filters both contain activated carbon reducing water Chlorine levels.

With the above occurrences, espresso extraction is optimized with significant enhancements to flavor notes of coffee and layers become pronounced.

HERO + involves adding additional Hydrogen Ions to the output line of a HERO circuit allowing reduction of PH & Alkalinity to preferred levels.  An example of when this featured should be incorporated is when the incoming water PH measures >8.2.  The bypass is capable of reducing PH closer to or below basic.   

With regards to the above figures, conditions do apply as incoming waters can vary between areas and supply water piping.  Sites often contain unwanted elements that influence the water readings.
