System description (HERO & HERO +):
'Hero' is our premium water seasoning system that incorporates 2 x different technology professional filters plumbed in series.
The cartridges work together to a) take Carbonate Ions from the incoming water & add Hydrogen b) attract TH Ions reducing total hardness.
1st cartridge inline: Is Hydrogen technology which exchanges incoming carbonate hardness with Hydrogen Ions. The increase of Hydrogen Ions reduce the water PH readings off Hong Kong highs of approx 8.0@25 deg C - to lower levels close to basic.
2nd cartridge inline: Is Na Sodium technology. It attracts the remaining Ca and Mg & releases Na Sodium to reduce total Hardness. This type of water chemistry helps minimize scale (temporary and permanent hardness) whilst at the same time aiding the coffee extraction for a delicious coffee taste.
The filters both contain activated carbon reducing water Chlorine levels.
With the above occurrences, espresso extraction is optimized with significant enhancements to flavor notes of coffee and layers become pronounced.
HERO + involves removing Hydrogen Ions in the output line of a HERO allowing minimal reduction of PH & Alkalinity. An example of this is when the incoming water PH measures <7.5. The bypass is too great and PH is lowered to a level below the target.
With regards to the above figures, conditions do apply as incoming waters can vary between areas and supply water piping. Sites often contain unwanted elements that influence the water readings.
